Who I am

My name is Cristina Fuentes and I have worked as a professional translator and interpreter since 2000. My passion for languages began when I was really young, as I started learning English when I was only three years old. This was followed by French and German, and in 1994 I started my degree in Translation and Interpreting at the Alicante University and the University of Ulster. The first work assignments came soon after I finished my studies and I decided to continue learning.

In 2002 I was appointed sworn translator with the English<>Spanish combination by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and I specialized in conference interpreting at the Heriot Watt University in Scotland. The experience and training acquired over the years have allowed me to make a living by doing what I love: translating and interpreting.

I have never stopped learning and that is why I continue with my training by attending courses and seminars, by keeping up with current affairs from the countries where my working languages are spoken and by actively participating in online communities for translators and associations.

Experience and way of working

A solid background and the experience gained over twelve years have allowed me to have a broad customer base including businesses, translation agencies and individual clients who rely on me for their translation needs.

Being an independent freelancer, customers work directly with me. I personally take care of all the assignments I receive and therefore I can provide personalised advice. This way of working is highly flexible and I can easily adapt to the customers’ needs without middlemen.
